According to the announcement, Li-ning will begin selling the apparel on Dec. 8 at its retail store in Shanghai’s Daning shopping complex. The three LoL players will be there to promote the new products, which includes hoodies, jackets, tracksuits, and shoes.
Li-Ning is one of China’s highest valued sporting goods brands. Previously an official marketing partner of the NBA, Li-Ning has also had sponsorship deals with multiple players. One of the most notable of these was a four-year agreement with Shaquille O’Neal, reportedly worth $1.2M USD. In July 2018, Miami Heat player Dwayne Wade signed a “lifetime” shoe deal with Li-Ning, having worked with the brand since 2012. Li-Ning first announced its sponsorship deal with EDG in October of this year.
EDG is best known globally for its League of Legends team, which was the third seed of the Chinese top-tier competition, the League of Legends Pro League (LPL), and earned a spot to compete in League of Legends 2018 Worlds Champion. In May, EDG closed a funding round of nearly ¥100M RMB ($15.7M, at the time of writing), co-led by Yao Capital , the firm of former NBA Chinese player Yao Ming.
