Shambhala Casino set to open

The Primorye gaming zone outside Vladivostok will see the opening of its second casino.

Shambhala Casino is scheduled to open its doors on October 16. The casino is owned and operated by Shambala CJSC.

The casino cost RUB3.5bn ($45m) and offers the players 56,000 square feet of gaming space, as well as three dining locations and a theatre.

The second phase of the construction should begin in 2022; with the additional construction, the project should cost RUB8bn ($11.5m) in total and will include several hotels, a conference hall, a golf course, and even amusement and water parks.

Primorye is located 30 miles north of Vladivostok, a port city. The region only has one other casino, Tigre de Cristal owned by Suncity, and the construction of a second venue is seen as a way to increase traffic to the area.

The new casino would look towards Japan, Cambodia, China and South Korea for the possible market. The general director of Shambala CJSC Maxim Smolentsev, said: “In the short term, we see the Primorye IRC as a pan-Asian resort that attracts tourists from many countries of the world.

“Our casino will be truly popular — a place where people are always in a good mood, where each guest is a part of a large, incessant holiday and can have a pleasant time, regardless of how much they are ready to bet on the game.”

Igor Trofimov, executive director of the Primorsky Krai Development Corporation, hopes the region can eventually house 12 casinos, including the NagaCorp and Diamond Fortune properties that are currently under construction. NagaCorp plans to open its venue in 2022.
