UK government issues gambling checklist for potential No-Deal Brexit scenario
his September, the UK government launched its ‘Get Ready for Brexit’ campaign, instructing individual departments to issue planning advice and information to their relevant business sectors. At present, government officials maintain their deadline that the UK will leave all European Union institutions on 31 October, underlining that it will seek no further withdrawal negotiation extensions.
The Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) has published an 8-point checklist, preparing gambling businesses and wider stakeholders for a potential No-Deal Brexit scenario, SBC News reports.
DCMS’ checklist focuses on four core criteria which will be impacted by a No-Deal Brexit which include employee status, data rights, EU market access and importing hardware.
All gambling enterprises have been urged to check employee visa and work permits, making sure that requirements are met for staff to work in their chosen country.
Further employee advice sees UK gambling operators instructed to refer their EU staff to register with the government’s ‘EU Settlement Scheme’.
With regards to digital functions, DCMS advises UK operators to review all data arrangements with EU/EEA customers, to ensure they can continue to transact legally.
In addition, UK operators should review their business accounting procedures making sure that they are compliant with the European Economic Area (EEA) laws.
Larger UK online gambling enterprises are advised to appoint an ‘EU representative’, helping them comply with a diverse range of EU member state gambling laws.
UK gambling stakeholders, who import/export equipment or hardware are referred to the government’s Brexit information page on handling export or transport goods.
